Dr Me Flag // Submission Boards and Evaluation

This was a straightforward day brief workshop in which I was paired with Seb to work to produce a flag that represented us in some way. The flag is an unusual format, and forced us to consider the way we utilise space in large scale. We challenged each other to complete the entire brief within the workshop, and this meant that we had to develop the concept and reach a resolution within one working day. Dr Me liked our concept of showing our ideas for the brief on the flag itself and we were able to make a flag that represented (although exaggerated) our different approaches to design and gave each of us half a flag to represent our process within. We were able to print the flag at full scale using digital fabric print, a resource which I had not had the opportunity to utilise yet on the course. The flag was used in the resulting exhibition although it was not returned by Dr Me. Although neither of us were especially happy with the finish of the end result, I felt that we had implemented a very different idea to others in the class and created something in a very short time frame which was interesting and invited people to stop and read the small details of the flag within the exhibition space.
