Colours May Vary // Cutting and organisation

Preparation:

We had to make each of the layers as close together to save material. This made it much more important for us to organise and label the parts as descriptively as possible, as some of the shapes were really similar and with no spares we couldn't afford to instal something in the wrong place.

With a scalpel, we carefully peeled away the excess material and cut out the around individual pieces to separate them from the group. As application tape was out of stock, we had to cover all of the design in strips of masking tape. This was a time-consuming process but not covering areas properly could lead to creases and misapplications in the final design.

Our system for labelling the pieces. We compared each of the parts with the diagram we had produced and made sure that nothing was missing and that we both understood where ach of the pieces could be found.
